Black Man's Think Tank Conference, April 8-9, 2011

The 11th annual Black Man's Think Tank Conference is set for Friday and Saturday, April 8-9, 2011, at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH. This year's theme is entitled 21st Century Global Directions for African American Males. The conference is sponsored by Sinclair Community College, Wilberforce University, and New Beginnings for Youth. The conference is a forum for discussion of issues of importance to Black communities especially as they pertain to Black men and boys. Each year the conference includes a full day of interactive workshops, panel discussions, lectures, health screenings, vendors, food, and entertainment.

This year’s conference will address strategies and programs that educate, inform, inspire, and prepare black males for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Keynote Speakers

Tyrone WhiteTwo keynote speakers are scheduled to speak at this event: David Lawrence, who is principal of Thurgood Marshall High David LawrenceSchool in Dayton and Tyrone White, who is a national speaker and author of “Parenting a Winner”. Mr. Lawrence will speak Friday at 11:00 a.m. on black males: collateral damage in the educational system while Mr. White will speak Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on creating opportunities in the global marketplace at the click of a button. Black Male Film Festival

On Saturday, we debut a black male film festival. Yemi Toure, Director of the International Black Man Film Festival, will be on hand to showcase short and full length independent black films. Visit their Web site to find out more, blackmanfilmfest.net.

The conference starts at 9 a.m. both days and ends at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and 4:00 p.m. Saturday. It is free and open to the public. Continental breakfast and lunch are free with pre-registration only. Register in advance of the conference.
