Covenant with America Town Hall Meetings and 8th Annual Black Man's Think Tank Conference Approaching

Dayton, Ohio – Sinclair Community College and the Community Development Corporation Resource Consortium will host two town hall meetings and the eighth annual Black Man’s Think Tank Conference, April 17th thru April 19th. The first event entitled the Covenant Town Hall Meeting takes place Thursday, April 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Crown Plaza Hotel, downtown Dayton. The second event entitled the Covenant Youth Forum, which is for teens and young adults, takes place Friday, April 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Crown Plaza Hotel, downtown Dayton. The eighth annual Black Man’s Think Tank Conference will wrap up the three day events Saturday, April 19, at Sinclair Community College, lower level of Bldg 8, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The events are themed after the Covenant with America book written by TV personality Tavis Smiley and are free and open to the public.

The town hall meetings will consist of area experts in housing, education, law, social services, and business. If you are interested in dialoguing about issues that affect you and your community, you will want to participate in these town hall meetings. Teens and young adults will want to participate in the Youth Forum on Friday. Hill Harper, motivational speaker and actor (CSI, New York), will be the keynote speaker at the 12:30 p.m. luncheon and book signing immediately after the Youth Forum. On Saturday, April 19th, the Black Man’s Think Tank Conference will expand the dialogue around its conference theme entitled Overcoming Social Injustice and Succeeding in Life. Reverend Dr. Daryl Ward and Dr. Nelson Hewitt will be the keynote speakers. Some workshop topics are HBCUs: Their Legacy, Destiny and Challenge; Illuminating African American Healthcare Disparities; and Saving Black Males. There will be more workshops plus networking, food, and entertainment.
